From BET.com: On the day when ESPN.com Page 2 columnist Jemele Hill returned from her suspension after making a Hitler joke, radio talk show host Don Imus might have provided material for her next column.

While discussing the story about Adam “Pacman” Jones wanting to drop his nickname on “Imus In The Morning,” anchor Warner Wolf told the 67-year-old talk show host that Jones had been arrested six times since he was drafted by Tennessee in 2005.

The following exchange happened:

“What color is he?”

“He’s African-American,” Wolf replied.

“Well, there you go,” Imus said. “Now we know.”

I’m sure you’re thinking here we go again.

An Activist Named Slickback, aka, Al Sharpton, has already issued a statement:

“I find the inference of his remark disturbing because it plays into stereotypes. Any use of stereotypes is always counterproductive. We will determine in the next day or so whether or not his remark warrants direct action on our part as we did in April of last year,” he said.

But before someone calls the National Association of Black Journalists to ask for his firing, let’s look back at what Hill said last week during a column about the Boston Celtics.

“Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan.”

Hitler joke or Black joke (that you could probably back up with statistics)?

Both aren’t funny but shouldn’t be considered a big deal.

I’m going to take a guess and assume Hill won’t be on the front line calling for Imus’ firing this time around.

Drunk Driving: It's Not Just For Ditzy White Chicks Anymore!!

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) ― Police say the wife of rapper Snoop Dogg has been arrested in California's Orange County for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Fullerton police Lt. Craig Brower says officers stopped 32-year-old Shante (Shahn-taye) Broadus of Sherman Oaks about 12:15 a.m. Saturday and took her to jail. She was cited and then released pending a court appearance.

Brower says nobody else was in the car but he didn't have any other details.

Broadus and Snoop Dogg -- whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr. -- were married in 1997 and have three children.

A message left with Snoop Dogg's publicist was not immediately returned.

When officers in Stanislaus County rolled up on the man along a dark, country road Saturday night, they saw him kicking, punching and stomping a toddler. They fired, killing the unidentified man, but not before the man had killed the child, estimated by the Stanislaus County coroner to be between 1 and 2 years old. “It’s been a long night of wondering, ‘Why?’ – not only for the officers and the passers-by who stopped and tried to help out, but for anyone. Why would somebody do this?” said sheriff’s deputy Royjindar Singh. Authorities say they do not know the relationship between the child and the man. The injuries were so severe, Singh said, that the child will have to be identified through a blood or DNA test. The suspect’s four-door pickup truck had a child’s car seat in the back; it caught the attention of an elderly couple late Saturday evening because it had stopped in a two-lane road, facing the wrong direction, Singh told The Associated Press. When they got closer, the couple saw the man pummeling the child behind the truck and throw him to the ground, the deputy said. “What we got from witnesses is he was punching, slapping, kicking, stomping, shaking,” Singh said. “They tried to intervene and get involved, but their efforts really didn’t have an effect. The suspect was engaged in what he was doing. He just pushed them off and went back to it.” Paramedics tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the toddler, who was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Now I'm not an advocate to murdering, but under these circumstances, I'm willing to allow it. This muf*cker got what he deserved. I'm sorry for using that word, but there is nothing else befitting to a grown man stomping a child to DEATH.

Something caught my eye today as I was checking my e-mail, oatmeal cookies was the #7 most searched item of the day. Oatmeal cookies...ya don't say? So here's the recipe for those bakers out there that might wanna whip me up a batch of cookies. (psst...I prefer chocolate chips, not raisins)

Ingredients

1	cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4	cup vegetable shortening
1/2	cup granulated sugar
1	egg
1/4	cup water
1	teaspoon vanilla
3	cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1	cup all-purpose flour
1	teaspoon salt (optional)
1/2	teaspoon baking soda

Preparation Steps

1. Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, beat brown sugar, shortening and granulated sugar until creamy. Add egg, water and vanilla; beat well. Add combined oats, flour, salt and baking soda; mix well.
2. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered.

Cook Tips and Variations

• Add 1 cup of any one or a combination of any of the following ingredients to basic cookie dough: raisins, chopped nuts, chocolate chips or shredded coconut.

Boo Kanye!!

From E! Online:The Bonnaroo boobirds were out in full force for Kanye West this weekend.

The Grammy winner walked onto the festival stage nearly two hours past his scheduled 2:45 a.m. performance time Sunday morning and was greated by bleary-eyed fans' chorus of boos and chants of "Kanye sucks."

West was originally set to kick things off at 8:15 p.m., but because he wanted to make the most of his Glow-in-the-Dark Tour's lighting show, the hip-hopster's camp asked to push back the gig to 2:45 a.m. following Pearl Jam's show.

However, the Seattle grunge rockers' gig lasted an hour longer than planned, with Eddie Vedder and bandmates not wrapping until 1:15 a.m. Then there was an extended break while Pearl Jam's roadies disassembled the band's stage and West's crew set up his own elaborate backdrop, a glow-in-the-dark spaceship along with undulating black platform and raised video screen.

Organizers posted a message via Jumbotron that the "Can't Tell Me Nothing" rapper wouldn't be taking the stage until 3:15 a.m., then 3:30. When 4:15 a.m. rolled around and still no West, the antsy crowd began hurling glow sticks at the stage and screaming anti-West sentiments. Bonnaroo officials didn't help the matter, not informing festivalgoers why the changeover was taking so long.

West finally made his entrace at 4:30 a.m., but by then, many exhausted attendees had had enough and returned to their tents.

Apparently, they didn't miss too much.

Judging by online reviews, West's performance didn't stand out from the 150 acts performing at the four-day musical campout. In fact, it was a yawner.

"He was two hours late, cut his show short, didn't once acknowlegde the crowd that waited two hours on an already late show, not even a wave goodbye...I'm no longer a Kanye fan, huge disappointment," one fan wrote at the music blog Stereogum.com.

"It's not the stage hands' fault; that stage was set up for well over an hour before Kanye decided to grace us with his presence," wrote another attendee on VillageVoice.com. "The next time he holds that finger up and proclaims himself as #1, I hope someone tells him what he can do with that finger."

Per festival reports, West failed to even acknowledge his tardiness.

The bad vibes carried over to Sunday's daytime slate, when during his set pedal-steel guitar virtuoso Robert Randolph groused about West's behavior, prompting fans to reprise the "Kanye sucks" chant.

There was no immediate comment from the West camp.

U.S. Soldiers Committing Suicide At An Alarming Rate

From BET.com: U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan – after a steady diet of loneliness and up-close violence – are committing suicide at an alarming rate. In 2007, according to Defense Department officials, 108 troops took their own lives. One in four of those deaths took place in Iraq, The Associated Press reported, citing the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The suicide figures could be the highest in history. “The overall toll was the highest in many years, and it was unclear when, if ever, it was previously that high,” AP reports. “Immediately available Army records go back only to 1990 and the figure then was lower — at 102 — for that year as well as 1991.” Still, the 108 deaths among active-duty soldiers and National Guard and Reserve troops were lower than previously feared, the wire service reports. In earlier reports, some 121 U.S. troops were believed to have committed suicide; many of those deaths, it was later learned, were not the result of suicide, the officials said. Violence escalated in Afghanistan during 2007, as did overall deaths in Iraq. The biggest disappoint for military officials is that the suicides climbed despite an increase in mental health initiatives designed to help troops deal with the stresses of war. They included suicide-prevention and other education programs, the hiring of more than 300 additional psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals and have so far hired 180 of them. They also have added more screening to measure the mental health of troops. “Since the beginning of the global war on terror, the Army has lost over 580 soldiers to suicide, an equivalent of an entire infantry battalion task force,” the Army said in a suicide-prevention guide to installations and units that was posted in mid-March on the site. “This ranks as the fourth leading manner of death for soldiers, exceeded only by hostile fire, accidents and illnesses,” it said. “Even more startling is that during this same period, 10 to 20 times as many soldiers have thought to harm themselves or attempted suicide.”

So now you tell me, is this war still worth fighting? Not only are our soldiers getting killed by insurgents, car bombs, flying bomb materials, and trigger happy kids, but they're taking their own lives. And Dubya still thinks that this is the right thing to do. That we still have a purpose for being in Iraq. I don't get it. Do you?
